Genilia, known for innocent looks and candid deeds onscreen, puts across naive desires off-screen too. Just akin the heroes in the films who played multiple roles, to be precise two NTRs in Ramudu Bheemudu, three Chiranjeevis in Mugguru Monagallu, four Kamal Hassans in Michael Madana Kamaraju, Genelia feels half a dozen Genelias would do in real life so as to accomplish an assortment of tasks, specifically one to play rain-football, one is to help mom in the kitchen, one for shopping, one for watching a movie in a single take. Genelia is currently doing only one Telugu film – Orange opposite Ram Charan. It is directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar and produced by Nagababu on Anjana Productions banner.

Recently, the Nadigar Sangam has announced that all actors who are not members of the association will be banned from working in Tamil films from August 15. Following this directive, about 30 new members have joined the association. These include Genelia, Hansika, Sameera Reddy, Vimal and others. There are reports that Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has also agreed to become a member and has requested for the application forms.

Actress Genelia D’Souza says that her passion for football helps keep her stamina levels high.

Genelia was a state level athlete and national level football player in her school and college days, before choosing acting as her profession.

“People often ask how a Management student and a sports person like me leads the hectic life of an actress. But, sports helps me manage my schedules in Hindi and South film industries by keeping my stamina levels high,” the actress said.

“Despite being actively into sports, I did not pursue it as a profession. I did not actually chose any career, it chose me,” she added.

Genelia who debuted opposite Riteish Deshmukh in Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2002, said she is not a fitness freak.

“Fitness depends on the diet and I have only home cooked food,” she added.

The actress was part of online market portal eBay’s Dream House challenge where she transformed an empty space into an attractive home with online shopping. She had a budget of Rs 4.5 lakh and two weeks to create a look she wants with items on sale on the website.

Speaking about her experience, she said one’s home is an extension of one’s own personality.

“We are all so overburdened with life and work that we need our own space to relax and unwind. I wanted to keep the young and vibrant look,” she said adding she used red and blue to get the right feel.

Genelia this morning has dropped in on the sets of director Trivikram’s Mahesh Kaleja. It was then that she had a short interaction with Mahesh Babu and his wife Namrata Shirodkar. This is the first time that they both met. Genelia’s obviously maha-thrilled about the meeting and tweeted this, “Just met Mahesh and Namrata. Lovely lovely people, Namrata is the sweetest and actually looks after everyone on sets and Mahesh looked like wowwwww.” Mahesh was equally thrilled to have met Genelia. He even expressed his desire to work with her. “It’s about time we did a film together..I’m sure our pairing will work like magic..gonna work something out real soon,” he tweeted, and the reply was, “Can’t wait Mahesh..I would be thrilled.”

If reports from Bollywood are to be believed, Genelia has been replaced by a newbie for the television show Big Switch on UTV. The actress was initially roped in for the second season of this show, but the producers have reportedly decided to opt for a fresh face.
Nikhil Gandhi, Business Head, UTV Bindass, said that during season 1, Genelia was available and signing her up was within their budget. But this year, the situation has changed and hence the channel decided to replace her.
