Genelia is exasperated as the rumors about her and Ritesh Deshmukh refuse to die. Recently gossip hounds had spread the news that they will be marrying each other next year. Genelia has nixed these rumors and said that with six films on hand she hardly has time to breathe let alone get married.
The actress has won a lot of praise for her Santhosh Sivan film, Urumi and she is pleased with the direction her career is headed. Genelia insisted that films are her number one priority for now and there will be time for marriage and kids later. For now she is eagerly awaiting the release of Kaakha Kaakha remake, Force and Velayudham with Vijay.
Genelia is in cloud nine. Yes, with the great critical acclaim and phone calls that is coming in from all corners in praise of her convincing portrayal of a serious role of ‘Ararkkal Ayesha,’ Genelia currently at the sets of ‘Velayudham is very happy to have done the movie’ I consider very lucky to have been considered for the role in Urumi’.
A very demanding role for which i had to train even in the martial art of ‘Kalaripayattu’, this one remains very close to me. I was also very comfortable with the team of Santhosh, Sankar Ramakrishnan, Anjali Shukla and my co-artists who helped me with my dialogues, though they were not normal Malayalam. I like to experiment in all languages and is proud to be part of ‘Urumi’ as it happens to be my first Malayalam movie’ says Genelia.
Post-Orange release, Genelia did not get any offers from the Tollywood and surprisingly she got an offer to play opposite Daggubati Rana for his forthcoming film to be directed by Prakash Tholeti and produced by Paruchuri Kireeti.
It is very interesting to note that the director Prakash Tholeti first approached Rana with the story but failed to get his nod. Then he narrated the same story to Nara Rohit and he accepted the storyline.
However, Nara Rohit had become with another project and with a few changes, the story was again narrated to Rana and the director succeeded in impressing the hero.
Prakash Tholeti worked as an associate with Bommarillu Bhaskar and Sukumar.
It is learnt that Genelia was roped in as heroine opposite Rana in this movie. Two of Rana’s films, a Bollywood movie ‘Dum Maro Dum’ and ‘Nenu Naa Rakshasi’ on Telugu are slated for release very soon.
The actress, who has been shooting and travelling non-stop will be seen taking centre stage as she hosts a women’s empowerment rock concert on Tuesday in the city.
A visibly excited Genelia who is all for the cause of celebrating womanhood is looking forward to hosting the rock concert, the idea being ‘raising funds while having fun.’
Talking about it she says, “This is a great opportunity for me to align myself to a cause that has always been close to my heart. I believe that the strength of a woman and her ability to deal with adversity is phenomenal. I also believe that if you educate and empower one woman, she has the capacity to turn around her entire family. Women have always been paragons of undeniable strength, intelligence and courage and this initiative by Akshara (an NGO) is the best way to go about doing this.”
The concert aside, point out to Genelia that she is becoming increasingly popular on TV, with the numerous brand endorsements she’s taken up of late, and she says that it’s all thanks to her fans. “It feels great to know that I was appreciated. While choosing to endorse a brand, I always think if the brand is something I stand for as an individual or not and if I’d do justice to the brand. Endorsements help to bring out our characteristics and personality traits in a more real way. In movies, we play different roles but in television commercials, we are totally ourselves,” she concludes.
Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif have been adjudged as the most desirable actor and actress respectively. Interestingly, Katrina has bagged the honor for the second consecutive year. Following Hrithik is Salman Khan, Rambi Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, and John Abraham.
Aishwarya Rai has bagged the second spot followed by Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor.
Interestingly, Genelia reached the sixth spot this time by pushing back Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Kangna Ranaut.
